The 2018-19 Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcast season continues with Puccini’s La Fanciulla del West, a performance taped live on October 27, 2018. Soprano Eva-Maria Westbroek sings the title role of the “Girl of the Golden West,” the saloon owner Minnie, opposite tenor Jonas Kaufmann as the outlaw Dick Johnson, with baritone Željko Lučić as the jealous sheriff, Jack Rance. Marco Armiliato conducts. Set during the California Gold Rush, La Fanciulla del West had its world premiere at the Met in 1910, with the composer himself in the audience.
