IAA Concerto Competition Winner Ailun Zheng in Studio A

This Friday, March 17, the Interlochen Arts Academy Orchestra will feature performances by the concerto competition winners. Ailun Zheng, a senior from Shanghai, visited IPR's Studio A recently for a performance and conversation.

Ms. Zheng won the concerto competition playing Sergei Rachmaninoff's "Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini" (the eighteenth variation of this piece is the theme of Music by Request each week). She played an excerpt of the Rachmaninoff piece in IPR's Studio A, and then she performed a complete work by Marc-Andre Hamelin, the "Variations on a Theme by Paganini."

Ms. Zheng and her fellow concerto competition winners will perform with the Interlochen Arts Academy Orchestra this Friday, March 17 at 7:30 PM. For more information about the concert and to purchase tickets, click here. The concert will also be broadcast live on Classical IPR.

Dr. Amanda Sewell is IPR's music director.
