Sphinx Organization

The Sphinx Competition is an annual concerto competition for young American string players of color. The winners of the Sphinx Competition often go on to remarkable careers.

Recently, three Sphinx Laureates gave a recital at the Great Lakes Center for the Arts in Bay Harbor. Violinist Elena Urioste, cellist Gabriel Cabezas and double bassist Xavier Foley performed with pianistĀ  Tom Poster.

Classical IPR in Concert: Harlem Quartet 2019

TheĀ Harlem Quartet was founded in 2006 by the Sphinx Organization. Their mission is to advance diversity in classical music, engaging young and new audiences through the discovery and presentation of varied repertoire that includes works by minority composers.

The Harlem Quartet recently performed at Interlochen Center for the Arts. This week on Classical IPR in Concert, you can hear that program.
