On Tuesday, August 6, the nationally syndicated classical music program Performance Today will feature two different recordings from Interlochen. 

At about 10:06 a.m., Performance Today will feature a performance the Interlochen Arts Academy Orchestra gave at Lincoln Center in David Geffen Hall. This performance from the 2016 NY Phil Biennial featured the piece "So Far So Good" by Nico Muhly. The conductor was Christopher Rountree.

On Monday, May 6, the nationally syndicated classical music program Performance Today will include two different Interlochen performances.

At about 10:10 a.m., Performance Today will feature a 2017 performance given by the Danish String Quartet in Interlochen's Corson Auditorium. Michael Culler engineered the recording.

We’ll revisit this September’s Hill Auditorium performance featuring the Philadelphia Orchestra conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin with violin soloist Lisa Batiashvili.

The concert has the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto, a suite from Nico Muhly’s opera Marnie, and the Symphonic Dances of Sergei Rachmaninoff.

On Thursday, September 27, Classical IPR presents a special live broadcast of the Philadelphia Orchestra from Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor, MI.

 

There's a stunning project by a handful of music's current big-thinkers: composer Nico Muhly, songwriter and singer Sufjan Stevens and guitarist-composer Bryce Dessner of The National. The trio, along with percussionist James McAlister, have created Planetarium, an existential song cycle that confronts both the heavens and the human condition in a marriage of hypnotic sound and song.
