Matthew Shepard Foundation

This month is the anniversary of the death of Matthew Shepard. In 1998, Shepard, who was gay, was brutally beaten in a hate crime. He later died of his injuries.

Shepard's death brought national attention to hate crimes based on sexual orientation.

This weekend the Festival Choir at Interlochen performs "Considering Matthew Shepard" by Craig Hella Johnson.

The concert is free and will be in Kresge Auditorium at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Conductor John Bragle came to IPR to discuss the piece and share some movements from "Considering Matthew Shepard."
