Cristian Măcelaru Conducts Grammy-winning Recording

Cristian Măcelaru conducted the world premiere recording of the Violin Concerto by American trumpeter and composer Wynton Marsalis.

The recording of the work, which was performed by violinist Nicola Benedetti and the Philadelphia Orchestra, won the Grammy award for “Best Classical Instrumental Solo” on January 26, 2020.

Dublin Guitar Quartet and Roomful of Teeth will perform in the Dendrinos Chapel Recital Hall at Interlochen tonight at 7:30 p.m. Information on tickets is available here.

The quartet visited Interlochen Public Radio's Studio A along with the artistic director of Roomful of Teeth, Brad Wells.

Detroit Symphony Orchestra LIVE: November 15, 2019

Join Classical IPR Friday, November 15 at 10:40 a.m. for a live broadcast of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.

The Friday morning concert takes place in Orchestra Hall and is produced in partnership with WRCJ Detroit and WKAR.

The conductor this week is Leonard Slatkin. The concert features tenor Miles Mykkanen, an alumnus of Interlochen Center for the Arts.

Classical IPR in Concert: IAA Faculty Chamber Music

This week, Classical IPR in Concert features members of the faculty of Interlochen Arts Academy.

Pianist Ya-Ju Chuang, violinist Ara Sarkissian, violist Renee Skerik and flutist Nancy Stagnitta perform a concert of works by Valerie Coleman and Bohuslav Martinů, along with pieces by Beethoven and Mozart.

In Studio A with Otis Murphy

Professor of Saxophone at Indiana University and Interlochen Center for the Arts alumnus, Otis Murphy will perform with the Interlochen Arts Academy Band tonight at 7:30 p.m. in Corson Auditorium.

He will give the Interlochen premiere of the Saxophone Concerto by James Stephenson, also an alumnus of Interlochen. 

Otis Murphy performed music of J.S. Bach and David Maslanka in Studio A at Interlochen Public Radio. He also discussed his time working with the Interlochen students.

In Studio A with Otis Murphy was engineered by Brock Morman.
