If you are a patient at Munson Medical Center it is becoming more likely that the sound of a harp might drift into your room. The hospital is training nurses and volunteers in music therapy. The man who built a number of the hospital’s harps took up the craft after his wife’s first battle with cancer. Marilyn Ware bought a harp 10 years ago but Jerry thought it didn’t sound that great. He decided to build her one and has been building the stringed instruments ever since.

IPR and the Interlochen College of Creative Arts hosted a story telling workshop this summer and one of the participants, Emily Bright, visited the Wares at home and tells their story.
