Jodi Picoult is a bestselling author of 31 books, including “A Spark of Light” and “Small Great Things.” Her latest novel, “By Any Other Name,” wades into a longstanding literary controversy. One of the main characters is the 16th-century poet Emilia Bassano, who Jodi theorizes wrote some of William Shakespeare’s plays. Jodi spoke with Rochelle Riley, director of arts and culture for the city of Detroit, at Lars Hockstad Auditorium in Traverse City. But first, for each of her events on this book tour, Jodi has invited a librarian to speak about censorship in public libraries and schools. This comes in the wake of Jodi’s books being banned from some libraries. Larry P. Neal is director of the Clinton-Macomb Public Library.
