Our conversation with Mark Torregrossa
The first day of autumn is less than a week away, but if you’re planning to take a trip up north to marvel at the fall colors,MLiveand farmerweather.com meteorologist MarkTorregrossatells us you might want to wait.He says rain and warm weather are keeping the trees lush and green.
Torregrossa says in order for the leaves to start changing, we need some cool nights and sunny days, a pattern he doesn’t see coming for “at least the next 10 days.”
“We’re going to cool down a touch, but not something that would accelerate the fall colors. So I think the next two weeks there won’t be much change,” he says.
He recommends folks who want to see the fall colors take that trip up north maybe a week later than they usually would.
“One of the worst things is, you drive up to the U.P. looking for fall colors on the first of October, and it’s totally green,” Torregrossa says.
