Why are House Republicans saying no to a DPS audit?

Detroit Public Schools has been controlled by the state since 2009. 

Yet, the latest emergency manager says without an infusion of cash from the state, the district won't be able to meet its financial obligations after June 30. 

DPS teachers want to know: how did the district run up so much debt under five emergency managers?

Republicans voted down an audit provision when the state House passed its DPS aid package last week. 

Bridge Magazine's Chastity Pratt Dawsey joined Cynthia Canty on Stateside to talk about the opposition to a forensic audit.
