Update on WIAA 88.7

Jan 23, 2020

Dear Classical IPR listeners,

As many of you know, we have been working for several weeks to restore WIAA 88.7 FM after it unexpectedly stopped transmitting.

We identified the cause of the problem as a malfunction on our tower’s antenna array, which will need to be dismantled and rebuilt. Unfortunately, snow and ice have made it unsafe for our crew to climb the tower to do this work, despite several attempts. We now anticipate that winter weather will delay the signal’s repair for a few weeks.

We know that this interruption in service inconveniences many of our listeners, and for that we are truly sorry. We appreciate your patience as we continue our work to resolve this issue.

In the meantime, I encourage you to tune in to Classical IPR at 88.5 FM or 94.7 FM, or listen online at interlochenpublicradio.org/listen-online. (Simply hit the play button in the gray area near the top of the page.)

I would be happy to speak with you about this matter and can be reached at 231.276.4446.

Sincerely,

Peter Payette

Executive Director, Interlochen Public Radio
