The Traverse City Pit Spitters baseball team will play in a newly named ballpark next season.

Pit Spitters Park is now called Turtle Creek Stadium after a naming rights deal was reached with Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians — owner of Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel.

The Pit Spitters declined to comment on the terms of the deal, saying it’s not public.

However, the infusion of cash from the deal will help the team renovate the stadium.

“Turtle Creek’s partnership will allow us to continually update and renovate areas of the ballpark to create an exceptional fan experience for baseball and other events,” Mickey Graham, general manager of the Pit Spitters, said in a statement.

The first Pit Spitters’ game in the rebranded park is scheduled for May 28.

“We are further expanding our sponsorships to make an impact on the area’s experiences and opportunities for our visitors, as well as all of us who live, work and play here,” Michael Schrader, CEO of the Grand Traverse Band Economic Development Corporation, said in a statement. “We are both in the entertainment and guest experience business, and we have been very impressed with the Pit Spitters' vision, operation and strategic plan. We look forward to growing and working together.”
