In Studio A with percussionist Jakob Schoenfeld

Jakob Schoenfeld is a senior at Interlochen Arts Academy. He studies percussion with Keith Aleo.

Jakob recently visited IPR's Studio A. He performed Robert Oetomo's arrangement of Harold Arlen's "Over the Rainbow." View video of the performance below.

 

Jakob spoke with Classical IPR's Amanda Sewell about some of his favorite family food traditions. He also explained that a 5-octave marimba isn't always the easiest instrument to transport. Listen to the entire conversation below.

In fact, he had to assemble the marimba in Studio A himself because it couldn't fit through the doorway! Check out a time-lapse video of the assembly process below.
