In Studio A with Ellen Zhou, Intermediate Concerto Competition Winner

Violinist Ellen Zhou with pianist Po-Chuan Chiang in IPR's Studio A

Fourteen-year-old violinist Ellen Zhou was recently named a winner of this year's Intermediate Concerto Competition at Interlochen Arts Camp.

On July 24, she'll perform the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto in E minor on a concert with the Intermediate Concert Orchestra and Intermediate Symphony Orchestra.

The concert will be held in Kresge Auditorium at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free. Find more information about the concert here.

Zhou visited IPR's Studio A to talk about the competition and fill us in on some of what she does when she's not practicing her violin. She performed the first movement of the Mendelssohn concerto, accompanied by pianist Po-Chuan Chiang.
