A couple of state senators stopped by Stateside to give their reaction to the State of the State address given by Gov. Rick Snyder Tuesday evening.

The governor dedicated a large portion of the speech to the Flint water crisis.

Flint's Democratic State Senator, Jim Ananich, says he's relieved the water crisis is finally getting the attention it deserves.

However, Ananich tells Stateside host Cynthia Canty that he had hoped Snyder would have had more details in his speech.

"One of the things that was troubling is he said the buck stops here, but then literally right after that he blames the president, he blames the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), he blames the mayor, he blames the city council, blames bureaucrats in state government," Ananich says.

Republican Senate Majority Leader ArlanMeekhof commends Snyder for taking responsibility and taking action to correct the situation.

"To his detractors, I don't think there's anything he could have said or any amount of money that he would have proposed that would have made them satisfied in any which way. The only way to satisfy them is to actually fix the problem,"  Meekhof says, adding that the public can expect quick action on the governor's request for emergency relief funding for Flint.
