Officials search for body of missing Northport boater

Michigan State Police

The rescue efforts for a missing boater on Grand Traverse Bay have come to an end.

Officials are now searching for the body of Northport resident Terry Eugene Warren, 57, who went missing Wednesday afternoon after leaving Northport Marina in choppy waters.

Police say they believe he was the sole occupant of the boat and fell overboard. His empty boat beached on shore about two hours after he left the marina.

“He has not yet been located. They’re using an (unmanned) underwater vehicle with a signal scanner,” said Lt. Ryan Tabaczka with Michigan State Police Cadillac Post, noting that officials are also using an aerial drone and a cadaver dog to help with the search.
