You've heard music by renowned American composer Gwyneth Walker on Classical IPR in the past.

Walker, composer in residence for the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra, recently completed a new piece for members of the ensemble.

"On Christmas Eve" will be performed on Christmas Eve at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Petoskey.

"On Christmas Eve" contains settings of "Bring a Torch Jeanette, Isabella," "In the Bleak Midwinter" and "Rise Up, Shepherd, and Follow."

The performance will feature Judy Zorn as soprano soloist, along with GLCO Principal Trombone Ed Bahr, GLCO Principal Trumpet Pat Jarve and percussion by Eric Shea. GLCO Concertmaster Andre Strydom and Music Director/Organist of Emmanuel Episcopal will conduct.

Walker shared insights about the upcoming premiere and the special considerations to go along with it for an unusual Christmas season, and took us on a guided tour of some of her favorite compositions - and ours.
