Rita Mae Brown is the author of many novels, including the Mrs. Murphy mystery series, the Sister Jane foxhunting mysteries, and her classic first novel, Rubyfruit Jungle. She was also well-known in the 1960s as an activist for civil rights, gay rights, and feminism.
