Donizetti’s tragedy Lucia di Lammermoor. Russian coloratura soprano Albina Shagimuratova makes her network role debut as the title character, who comes undone in opera's most famous mad scene. Maltese tenor Joseph Calleja stars opposite her as Lucia's beloved Edgardo, her family's enemy. Italian baritone Luca Salsi makes his network role debut as Lucia’s villainous brother, Enrico; and English bass Alastair Miles is the chaplain Raimondo. Bel canto specialist Maurizio Benini conducts.
