One of the key roles of a state attorney general is protecting consumers.

A guest editorialin Bridge Magazine today accuses Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette of a weak track record of consumer protection.

The editorial was written by Mark Totten, a Michigan State University law professor. He ran on the Democratic ticket against Schuette in 2014.

Schuette’s spokesperson pushed back strongly against the assertion that consumer protections have lagged under Schuette’s tenure.
