Kids Commute - Puppet Week! Wednesday

Vaslav Nijinsky as Petrouchka
Ballets Russes, 1911

Thanks for listening to Kids Commute - music appreciation for kids from Interlochen Public Radio. We’re in the middle of Puppet Week, where we explore music written about puppets. So far, we’ve heard piano compositions by Czechoslovakian composer Bohuslav Martinu and French composer Claude Debussy.

In today’s show, we’ll hear music from the ballet, “Petrouchka”, by Russian composer Igor Stravinsky. We’ll give you some fun information about the ballet and how it inspired the creation of a famous puppet show, “Punch and Judy”. After the music, we’ll give you another hint for the Kids Commute Quizlet in case you haven’t figured out the answer. If you’ve gotten it right, we’ll send you a Kids Commute Prize Pack. Thanks for listening to Kids Commute from Interlochen Public Radio.
