Kids Commute - Neapolitan Week! Friday

Mario Lanza as Pinkerton in the 1949 film, MADAMA BUTTERFLY. Interlochen Public Radio - classical music for kids!
MGM Studios

Happy Friday, Kids Commuters! Welcome to the last day of NEAPOLITAN WEEK on IPR's Kids Commute!

It's Valentine's Week, so we're hearing a round of famous - and fun! - Italian love songs, performed by legendary singers.

Today, we take a ride in a cable car - a "funicular." "Funiculi, Funicula," is a piece of music you may have heard in commercials, and it's often associated with food, but it's not about food at all! Being a Neapolitan song, it's about love - or thinking about love - while riding a cable car. "Jamme!" - "Let's go!"

Friday, February 16, 2018 (Ep. 104)
Funiculi, Funicula! sung by Mario Lanza
Music by Luigi Denza, lyrics by Peppino Turco
