Kids Commute - La Cenerentola Week! Thursday

Kids Commute Episode 13: Zitto, zitto! Piano, piano! Prince Ramiro and his servant and friend Dandini (also dressed as a Prince) sneak off to the garden to gossip quietly.
Painting, by Friedrich Wilhelm von Schadow, 1830

Welcome to Day Four of La Cenerentola Week on IPR's Kids Commute! Yesterday, a bunch of footment showed up to invite the daughters of Don Magnifico to a dinner party.

Today, we meet Prince Ramiro and his buddy (and servant) Dandini. They've been at dinner with Clorinda and Tisbe, and sneak off to the garden to talk about how obnoxious they are. They don't want to get caught, so they keep reminding each other - "Zitto zitto! Piano piano!" - which is Italian for, "Shhhhh."

Kids Commute Episode 13 (Thursday, September 21, 2017 - encore rebroadcast March 22, 2018)

LA CENERENTOLA
Zitto, zitto! Piano, piano!
Gioacchino Rossini

Here's today's Kids Commute:

Here's an English translation of what we're hearing today:

Hush, hush, quietly, not a sound!
Tell me truthfully, what are the two girls like?
Softly, in an undertone
Tell me in strictest confidence
They're a mixture of insolence, whims and vanity
Alidoro said the daughter of the Baron...
Your tutor knows it all. What a goose he is!
Whoever wants to, can marry them, but we'll keep on acting.
They're a fickle pair, but the pretense goes on.

What's the pretense they're talking about? Ramiro, the Prince, is pretending to be Dandini, the servant. Dandini, the servant, is pretending to be the Prince...so they can figure out if the sisters' hearts are true.

...and here's a clip of Ramiro (Juan Diego Florez) and Dandini (Pietro Spagnoli) whispering about the sisters:
