Happy Friday! Welcome to the last day of FIREBIRD WEEK on IPR's Kids Commute!
This week, we're listening to Igor Stravinsky's ballet combining two Russian fairy tales - the terrible Koschei the Deathless, and the magical and benevolent Firebird.
Today, we'll hear the Finale of Stravinsky's ballet - which is, in your host Kate's opinion, some of the most joyous music ever written. Koschei the Deathless is destroyed, all the captives are freed, Prince Ivan marries a princess, and it's happily ever after!
By the way - please do click on the picture at left to expand it - it's a gorgeous set design for a 1923 production of THE FIREBIRD by Vladimir Pleshakov.
