General Motors' Chevy Bolt is expected to be in showrooms by the end of the year.

Our conversation with Detroit News business columnist Daniel Howes.

With a new development in the march to lead the mobility movement, we check in with Detroit News business columnist Daniel Howes.

Howes joined Stateside to talk about his latest column "Tough auto game challenges Silicon Valley stars" where he says Silicon Valley has gotten a reality check in terms of what it takes to get a vehicle to market on schedule.

Reports show that Apple is scaling back their auto program, while Tesla is stepping up with their Model 3 vehicle. The Model 3 is expected to have an affordable $30,000 price tag, but it might not be available to consumers until the middle of 2018.

Meanwhile, General Motors seems to be winning the race to get electric cars to the public, as their Chevy Bolt should be in showrooms by the end of the year.

Listen to the full interview above to hear more about the race to get electric cars to consumers, and the latest big move from the Lear Corporation. It's setting up shop in Detroit.
