Guitarist Sharon Isbin in conversation

J. Henry Fair

Grammy Award-winning guitarist Sharon Isbin has a new album called "Alma Española." On the new album, Isbin and mezzo soprano Isabel Leonard perform Spanish-language art songs, many of which are new arrangements Isbin created.

Sharon Isbin recently spoke with Classical IPR's Amanda Sewell about the new album. She gave some insights about the close relationship between the composers Federico Garcia Lorca and Manuel de Falla,  both of whose music is included on the album.

Isbin also discussed her own friendship with the composer Joaquin Rodrigo, which began when Rodrigo sought Isbin out after hearing her perform his Concierto de Aranjuez.
