New programs are coming to weeknights on Classical IPR. Beginning September 24, Classical IPR will broadcast top American orchestras Monday through Thursday at 8 p.m. The Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic and the Cleveland Orchestra will now be featured every week.
Every Friday night on Classical IPR is devoted to recent concerts from Northern Michigan, like the Traverse Symphony Orchestra, Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra and Interlochen students, faculty and guest artists.
We are also adjusting the evening schedule in response to feedback from recent listener surveys. A number of listeners asked to have Frank Slaughter’s Repose on earlier in the evening. Others have requested that Music Through the Night start earlier. Together, these suggestions are why we have moved Repose to 10 p.m. and are now picking up Music Through the Night starting at at 11 p.m.
In our most recent survey, one listener wrote, “Don't hesitate to change things around. How to do that while at the same time keeping all the great stuff you already play? I can't begin to say.” These changes are Classical IPR’s effort to keep things the same while also changing things around. We have removed the repeat performances of Performance Today and weekend programming to bring our listeners as much original, compelling content as we can.
