Artists from Ludington, Manton and Petoskey hit the ArtPrize Top 20

ArtPrize

Artists from northern Michigan are again among the top contenders for prize money at ArtPrize in Grand Rapids. Artists from Ludington, Petoskey and Manton are among the top 20 picks determined by public vote. Voters chose these works from among 1.536 entries this year.

Photographer Ryan Spencer Reed of Ludington is in the running for top prize money for his social documentary on Afghanistan.

Mark Middleton of Petoskey is in the running for his painting of the eye of a zebra, called Perspective.

A wood carver from Manton, Dan Heffron is back in the running this year with a series of 20 sculptures of fish and sea life he titled Poseidon’s Paradise.

Last year, Artist Ann Loveless, of Benzie County, took the $200,000 top prize. Loveless is currently exhibiting in Traverse City.
