Soprano Laura Osgood Brown and mezzo-soprano Lindsey Anderson will perform with pianist Hyemin Kim at The Alluvion in Traverse City to kick off this fall's Interlochen in Town series on Friday Sept. 15.
This is a new venture which aims to bring art being made on Interlochen's campus into the Traverse City area to share and connect with the greater community.
Laura Osgood Brown is an Instructor of Voice and Opera, Lindsey Anderson is the Director of Admission, Recruitment and Communications and Hyemin Kim is a Collaborative Pianist at Interlochen Center for the Arts.
When they visited Studio A in preparation for their upcoming concert at The Alluvion, they talked about their processes, how performing in new venues feels to the voice and shared insight into the pieces that they will be presenting that evening.

Osgood Brown remarked that she often includes her students at Interlochen in the process of preparing a piece, performing in class even when a piece is still a work in progress, modeling not only the final product, but the path to get there as well.
And, as The Alluvion is a newer performance space in town, Anderson noted that learning to feel how a space responds to the voice is a part of getting to know a new venue.
"It's an intimate space where people can come and hear this beautiful music and experience it with us, see our eyes as we communicate this beautiful text and go on the journey with us," she said.
Laura Osgood Brown and Hyemin Kim performed "Ein Jüngling liebt ein Mädchen" and "Am leuchgtenden Sommermorgen" from Robert Schumann's Dichterliebe.
Lindsey Anderson and Hyemin Kim performed "Ideale" by Franco Paolo Tosti.
Hear these pieces and more at the Interlochen in Town series on Friday, Sept.15, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. at The Alluvion, located at 414 East Eighth Street, Traverse City.
