Traverse Symphony Orchestra

The Traverse Symphony Orchestra recently presented an all-Rachmaninoff program.

Join Classical IPR Friday night at 8 p.m. for a broadcast of this recent concert under the baton of Kevin Rhodes.

The TSO welcomed guest pianist John Novacek. Novacek was the soloist in Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto no. 1.

John Novacek is a multifaceted musician: he’s a pianist who performs regularly as a soloist, in chamber ensembles, and with orchestras, and he also composes. Novacek will be the soloist with the Traverse Symphony Orchestra this weekend in their season finale concert.

Gary Gatzke is the principal double bassist of the Traverse Symphony Orchestra and the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra. He is also the interim Executive Director of the Traverse Symphony Orchestra. Gatzke will be one of several soloists featured this weekend in the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra’s Bach Family Festival.

Baroque Choral Festival Encore Broadcast - Tonight!

Classical IPR brought you the Baroque Choral Festival live from Corson Auditorium last month. The concert included the Traverse Symphony Orchestra and soloists, choral ensembles from Northwestern Michigan College, and the Interlochen Arts Academy Choir. Together the groups performed Dettingen Te Deum and Zadok the Priest by Handel, and Vivaldi's Gloria. Listen to our encore broadcast of this concert tonight at 8 p.m.

Classical IPR brings you the most recent performance from TSO’s 65th anniversary season. It includes Sunset Strip: 7am by Michael Daugherty, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2 and the Cello Concerto No. 1 by Shostakovich. The soloist is Suren Bagratuni. Kevin Rhodes conducts. Listen tonight at 8:00 p.m.

This Friday night Interlochen Public Radio brings you the TSO and legendary pianist Ralph Votapek. The program includes Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 20, Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 3 “Scottish”, and Lacrimae Beati by Richard Danielpour. Kevin Rhodes conducts the concert from earlier in this 65th Anniversary Season for the Traverse Symphony Orchestra. This program airs at 8 p.m. on Classical IPR.

 The Traverse Symphony Orchestra recently closed its season with a performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. They were joined by the NMC Grand Traverse Chorale and Chamber Singers and the Interlochen Arts Academy Choirs. Piano soloist, Spencer Myer travels the world performing with orchestras, in solo recital and as a chamber musician. He says keeping and open mind and being versatile are keys to having a fulfilling life in music. Myer is in Northern Michigan this week and will be featured on Sunday with the Traverse Symphony Orchestra. He stopped by IPR’s Studio A to share  music and insights into his artistic experiences.
