At the Gettysburg National Military Park.

Michigan poets and multimedia artists, MichelleBonczekEvory and RobertEvory, will be the first artists-in-residence at the Gettysburg National Military Park.

The program invites artists to immerse themselves in the park's historical landscape and expand their own creative pursuits to inspire and engage new audiences.

This artists-in-residence program is part of a larger program set up by National Parks Arts Foundation.

Michelle Evory said they intend to focus "on the details and the concrete, physical, sensual experiences of everybody [who was  involved in the battle]. What happened at churches when these wars were going on? What were the mothers praying exactly when their sons were on the battlefield? What about grandparents who weren't able to fight? I'm interested in bringing these stories into the light so we all can claim those as our own stories, as well."

Michelle and Robert Evory will present their works throughout the state after spending the month of July at the park.

The Michigan-based couple are the founders ofThe Poets Billow, which champions poetry as a life enhancing force and offers advice, guidance, and consultation and a network for poets, experts, and amateurs.
