Jumping For A World Record

http://ipraudio.interlochen.org/Skydive.mp3

By Tom Kramer

Tomorrow night, two people will attempt a world record in skydiving. Luther Kurtz and his sister, Angela Bishop, will try to top the current record of 103 tandem skydives in a 24 hour period.

Luther is the owner of Skydive Harbor Springs and has 7,000 jumps under his belt... most of them tandem jumps... when two people are attached with a harness.

Kurtz says they're jumping to raise money for the Top of Michigan Trails Council.

The current record was set last year by two Air Force skydivers in Florida. They hoped to make 150 jumps but settled for 103. Kurtz says he and his sister will need to make a jump every 11 or 12 minutes... without some of the advantages of the current record holders.

The jumping starts tomorrow night at 6:00 at the Harbor Springs Airport. You can find more information, and follow their progress here.
