In conversation with Kathryn Votapek and Ralph Votapek

Ralph Votapek is a concert pianist and Professor Emeritus of Piano at Michigan State University’s College of Music. His daughter Kathryn Votapek is a Lecturer of Violin at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre and Dance. The two of them will be performing at the Leelanau Summer Music Festival this weekend.

Kathryn and Ralph visited Interlochen Public Radio to talk about their new album of the violin and viola sonatas of Johannes Brahms. They also discussed what it’s like working at rival universities and why their album has a hedgehog on the cover. Hear the entire conversation, complete with music from their new album, below.
