On Friday, March 15 at 7:30 p.m., NPR's From the Top will tape an episode at Interlochen Center for the Arts. From the Top is a non-profit organization dedicated to celebrating the stories, talents, and character of young classically-trained musicians.
The program will feature Interlochen Arts Academy students performing a variety of repertoire. Actor and musician Damon Gupton will host the program with co-host and collaborative pianist Michelle Cann.
Tickets are still available to attend. Click here for more information and to purchase tickets. Classical IPR's Amanda Sewell will be in the lobby of Corson Auditorium to meet audience members before the performance.
During the week leading up to the live From the Top event at Interlochen, Classical IPR will feature music performed by From the Top alumni, several of whom are also alumni of Interlochen Arts Academy. Listen for music performed by Gohar Vardanyan, Carol Jantsch, Melissa White, Caleb Hudson and many others.
The week will also feature several Interlochen Arts Academy student musicians who will be performing during the taping of From the Top. Listen for recent performances by students Esther Chae, Luis Marquez Teruel and JunMing Wen.
Additional planned features include an exclusive interview with Damon Gupton ahead of the performance, Prodigy Week! on Kids Commute and a Facebook live event during rehearsals.
Classical IPR has partnered with several area organizations, including the Dorothy Gerber Strings Program and the Northern Michigan Partnership (TCAPS), to encourage young people and their families to attend.
