Classical IPR presents a guided tour of Handel's 'Messiah'

Most modern performances of George Frederic Handel's "Messiah" include very large choirs and orchestras. But when the piece was first performed in 1742, it was done with a very small group of musicians.

Join Classical IPR Friday December 14 at 5 p.m. and again on Monday December 24 at 12 p.m. for a guided tour of how "Messiah" would have sounded at its first performance.

This program features a 2006 album by the Dunedin Consort and Players, led by John Butt. Click here for more information about the recording.

Dr. Amanda Sewell is IPR's music director.
