Clarinetist and USAF Technical Sergeant Chantelle Friedman in conversation with Classical IPR

USAF

The United States Air Force Midwest Winds are currently taking an extensive tour of northern Michigan. In the next week, the quintet will perform in Manistee, Ludington, Cheboygan, Mackinac Island and Sault Ste. Marie. They are joined on this tour by their colleagues in the Liberty Quartet.

Classical IPR caught up with Technical Sergeant Chantelle Friedman, who is Midwest Winds' clarinetist and spokesperson. Sergeant Friedman spoke about the ensemble’s history and mission and shared some recordings that the quintet has made together. She also talked about what it's like to go through basic training as a classical musician. Listen to the entire conversation below.

The USAF Midwest Winds and Liberty Quartet will perform June 7 in Manistee, June 8 in Ludington, June 9 in Cheboygan, June 10 on Mackinac Island and June 11 in Sault Ste. Marie. Click each city’s name for more information about that performance. All performances are free and do not require advance tickets.
