The City Opera House in downtown Traverse City is celebrating its 125th year on Front Street. Today, the opera house released the 2016-17 season, with 10 shows scheduled from August to April. Theater productions, music acts, and a One-Man Star Wars Trilogy show, highlight this year's lineup.
Kristi Dockter, Director of Marketing for the City Opera House, says the variety of productions is based on a desire to bring something to town for everyone.
"For us, we look at something that serves our mission, which is performing arts for all ages, all genres, and in an affordable ticket price," she says.
Of the 10 shows announced this morning, three of them are returning due to popular demand, while the remaining seven will be making their City Opera House debut.
"We have felt really strongly about trying to live the statement, 'See something spectacular; support something spectacular,'" Dockter says. "And we really hope people see that when they look at the lineup."
Tickets for the upcoming season at the City Opera House are now on sale. You can find more information here.
