Michigan Artists Gallery presents Steve Wirtz's "Absurd Dynamism" on Sept. 7th, TC Fall Art Walk, 5-9PM (runs thru Sept. 30th.) The Upper Peninsula artist is at it again with his wire and laminated paper sculptures. This exhibit features compositions of action and foolish drama. Anthropomorphism, exaggerated characteristics and impressionist-like color schemes are all on display for this opening. Wirtz discovered art at a very early age and never recovered. His laminated paper pieces are built over wire armatures. The artist enjoys making humorous themed works that often involve both animals and humans. A few of his titles of his new works indicate what a joyful event this will be: "I May Have Big Ears, But I Rarely Listen to You", "Destroyer of Toys", "Sorry About Your Shoes", "Suddenly, They're No Longer New", "Not Quite Housebroken", "Pastry Rescue Squad", and "Happiness is Running Full Blast."
